Instructional Designer
About the role:
At Boston Scientific, we are looking for a dynamic, results-driven Instructional Designer to actively assist with the development and execution of innovative training programs within our newly launched Endobariatrics division. In this highly visible, strategic role, you will build out and design the foundation for a commercial organization that focuses on advancing innovative, endoscopic solutions for obesity. Directly contributing to the growth and success of this fast-evolving market.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with hands-on experience in applied principles of organizational psychology, adult education, and training assessment to Boston Scientific’s training curriculum for the Endobariatrics commercial team. Has demonstrated success in curriculum design, training execution and measurement of outcomes. Has strong proficiency with learning technology platforms all while taking a continuous improvement approach to existing training assets and content and measuring the effectiveness and success against pre-determined objectives.
This strategic role will collaborate with the Senior Group Manager of Sales Training Endobariatrics, the broader Instructional Design Team members, Sales Training, Marketing, Professional Education, Senior Leadership, Regulatory/Legal, and IT.
This is a hybrid role and will require 3 days a week onsite at either our Marlborough, MA or Austin, TX site.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the design and development of a comprehensive Endobariatric training program from onboarding through advanced training and continuous education.
- Execute a blended learning strategy to include e-learning, virtual, classroom, and within a hands-on environment.
- Work with the Senior Group Manager & Marketing teams on various Endobariatric strategic projects, new product launches and special product promotions.
- Partner with marketing, sales, HEMA, and operations to identify Endobariatric training needs and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and/or cross-functional teams for Endobariatric content development. May also work to identify external programs, resources and vendors that specifically meet learning & development needs. Works with vendors to provide quality cost-effective solutions.
- Facilitate and support Learning and Design processes and efforts required to meet Quality System, Compliance and Legal requirements.
- Assess and update Endobariatric sales training materials and teaching methods to continuously improve sales productivity.
- Develop training standards and measurement tools to measure performance following each training/meeting.
- Write criterion-referenced performance-based objectives.
- Recommend instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with Managers of Sales Training to coordinate and streamline the training setup and execution of various classes & meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning & development, technical writing, or related discipline.
- Advanced experience in eLearning / digital authoring tools
- Experience with virtual classroom technologies
- Experience with instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven capability to understand and effectively apply technical concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project plans and deliver on specific timelines.
- Expert in Microsoft Office suite
- Results-oriented team player
- Excel in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for collaboration meetings and to deliver training sessions.
Preferred Qualification:
- Demonstrated ability to determine and set direction.
- Has experience working in a cross-functional role.
- Strong project management experience.
- Experience in Endobariatrics preferred.
